The XNR concept car is one of a limited number of design studies built by Chrysler/Plymouth in the late 1950s and early 1960s that explored a potential rival to the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Thunderbird in America’s thriving two-seat roadster market. Named after its legendary designer, Virgil Exner, the XNR showcased his signature “Forward Look” styling at its most extreme, featuring a unique asymmetrical body, dramatic Space-Age fins, and side-pipe exhausts. This replica of the original car was built by the team at Gotham Garage in 2020 for the Netflix show Car Masters: Rust to Riches and was later donated to the Museum. The original car was lost and presumed to be destroyed from the 1970s until it was rediscovered in 2009. It has since undergone a complete restoration and is now held in a private collection in the United States.
This Vehicle is on display in the The Vault: Presented by Hagerty exhibit.
